Fishing is still great in the mornings on tricos and olive hare's ears. Half day mornings only as the water is getting too warm after noon.
Another nice morning on the Guadalupe River. We are seeing some excellent trico hatches in the mornings and the fish are going crazy over them. Best fishing is from around 7 am to noon. Toobers are starting to show up in the afternoons on the weekends, so an early start is beneficial.
The Guadalupe river fished very well throughout the day. Best patterns were size 22 tricos and black midges.
Excellent Trico hatches in the mornings with good success on size 22 black trico emergers. As the day goes on I am switching to bigger mayfly patterns such as prince nymphs or hare's ears with a size 22 black midge below. Expect the best fishing to be before noon and after 4 in the afternoon.
If you aren't fishing the Guadalupe this month, you are missing out. The sucker spawn is now underway and we are seeing some incredible midge hatches in the afternoon. Fishing is great.
Another great day on the Guadalupe, the midge hatches have been thick and trout have been keying in on them. Dave landed this 24" rainbow on a size 22 black midge this afternoon!
Fishing on the Guadalupe is the best it has been all year! Best patterns have been black midges and caddis pupa.
The Guadalupe River is still fishing GREAT! Changing flies often has still been key, as the fish are getting wise to those standard guadalupe patterns. We are seeing crosshatches of midges, caddis, BWO's, tricos and slate drakes. The Redhorse Sucker spawn should get going any time now, and soon the trout will be going stupid over sucker spawn patterns.
Another amazing weekend of fishing on the Guadalupe River. We have seen the best hatches in the afternoon, and are catching fish on all kinds of mayfly patterns right now. Don't be afraid to throw some bigger mayfly patterns as well, as they have been taking their fair share of fish. Hooking a rainbow over 5 lbs is very possible right now, and we have had several fish that size landed in the boat this week.
Had an afternoon half day float, and the fishing was great. Jeff had a double digit day with several nice rainbows to the net. We are still getting good eats on small baetis patterns. On cold days like today, the best fishing is going to be in the afternoon when the bugs start showing up.
Sorry for the lack of fishing reports lately, I have been on the water since Saturday. Fishing has been awesome, with several fish over 5 pounds taken this week, one fish measuring 26". Small mayfly nymphs such as BWO patterns have been most productive, but remember to change flies often if you are fishing the same area for an extended period of time.
Awesome fishing today on the Guadalupe River!! The overcast sky had fish feeding throughout the day.
The Guadalupe has still been fishing well! The past few days on the water have been wet and cold, but the fish have been active. This cold and cloudy weather has produced some really nice BWO hatches, and size 20-22 BWO emergers have been our best fly. I had the afternoon off on friday after a morning on the water so I decided to do a little fishing for myself. This big rainbow ate a size 22 flashback RS2.
Steady fishing on the Guadalupe River over the past couple of days. Most productive patterns were trico emergers and egg patterns. We even had a little afternoon dry fly action on elk hair caddis!
Guadalupe River fly fishing is really heating up! Changing flies often has been key, but some of our best patterns were pheasant tails and trico emergers.
Another great day on the Guadalupe River! Egg patterns, pheasant tails and trico emerger's were our best patterns. A few fish were up shallow which made for some fun sight casting!
Hill Country Bass Fishing is really heating up! Smallmouth, Largemouth, Sunfish and Guadalupe Bass have been very active this week.
The Guad is still fishing great, had quite a few fish yesterday including a 4 pound rainbow to top things off! Best flies were large hare's ears and caddis emergers.
Awesome fishing on the Guadalupe today; san Juan worms, hares ears and midge emergers produced most of the fish.
