The Roaring Fork Valley is fishing great. The weather is really starting to cool off and we are seeing great BWO hatches throughout the valley. Overcast days are producing some fantastic streamer fishing on the Roaring fork and Colorado as well.

The Pan is fishing very well. There are still some drakes around, lots of midges, PMD's on sunny days and plenty of BWO's on cloudy days. Floating the Roaring Fork has been fun with lots of tricos in the morning and BWO's and caddis in the evening. The Colorado is currently blown out but should be clearing up soon. Last week it was fishing great on rusty spinners and BWO's. Signs of Fall are starting to show and its a great time to be on the water!

The Pan is still fishing great. Plenty of dry fly action on PMD's and Green Drakes from mid-morning until dark. In the early morning fish are eating grey midges and PMD spinners under an indicator or fished dry. Blue winged olives are starting to show on days with cloud cover so try grey RS2's and extended body BWO dries. The Colorado river is fishing very nice as well. Try stoneflies and caddis in the morning and PMD nymphs and emergers in the afternoon.

The roaring fork valley rivers are on fire! The Pan is down to 220 CFS and we are seeing excellent midge, PMD and green drake hatches. Dry fly fishing is excellent at times. The Roaring Fork and Colorado have cleared up and are also fishing very well out of the boat. Try fishing yellow sallies, caddis, golden stones and PMD's.

The flows on the pan are slowly beginning to drop and current flow is 868 CFS. The fishing is great but it is very crowded up at the dam. The PMD's are starting to show and there is some nice dry fly action to be had for those who can find soft water. Up on the flats my best flies have been mysis patterns and midges in the morning with a few PMD emergers in the evening.

Things are getting good on the Frying Pan. The water is still high at 880 CFS but the flats are fishing very well. The Colorado and Roaring Fork are still unfishable. Richard and Don came up from Texas yesterday and caught some really nice fish. If you find yourself in Colorado this summer give me a call, I am working for Frying Pan Anglers in Basalt, CO. www.fryingpananglers.com
